From September 9, 2024 – September 13, 2024 the Institute for Equity and Justice in Health Sciences Education (“The Institute” to us and our fans 😎) hosted its inaugural week of We’re All In (WAI) programming as an opportunity for new and returning members of the Icahn School of Medicine community to learn more about our work to address racism & all forms of bias work in the school at large.

We’re All In began in 2022 as a one day event and has expanded to a full week because its planning team believes in #GoBigorGoHome! So we made WAI more accessible with in-person and virtual events, and filled it with more passion and more energy for 2024, with a full week of fun, learning, and community building, hoping that the Icahn Mount Sinai community would be down to celebrate with us. Spoiler alert: you were!

Here’s the Rundown

WAI 2024 included the very first joint meeting for the Medical Education and Graduate Education Racism Guiding Coalitions, and a series of “Roadshows” during which we joined existing staff meetings to talk about the Racism & Bias Initiative (RBI). We also announced daily We’re All In Challenges to prompt you to practice promoting equity and justice in your daily lives (you can find all the challenges here).

WAI Wrapped

Now that we’ve established that we were everywhere that week, we are proud to share that an estimated 188 of you joined us for at least one event this year. We are so grateful to have had such a great turnout for our first week-long activation – whether you chatted with our fabulous T shirt-clad Institute reps at the student activities fair, thought about power dynamics during a game of PowerPlay© at the Lunch n’ Unlearn, or tested your bank of useless-knowledge against a game of Kahoot Trivia during the game night. We are so thrilled that you went all in with us this year, and if you haven’t already done so, we’d love to hear how it went.

If you missed WAI you also missed the opportunity to win amazing raffle prizes like Bose QuietComfort Headphones, a Hatch Restore 2, and an Amazon Kindle – and speaking of winners, congratulations, by the way, to our first raffle prize winner Bryan Tricoche who is enjoying his stunning new baby blue Bose headphones, and to Ashley Michelle Fowler who reigned supreme over all as the winner of the WAI 2024 trivia night.
